David Paul Montgomery, Esquire was born on May 1, 1953 in Boulder
City, Nevada. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and
his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the State University of New York at
Buffalo in 1974. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University
College of Law in 1977 where he served on Law Review. Mr. Montgomery is
certified by the Florida Supreme Court to serve as mediator for all Circuit
Court civil mediations, County Court civil mediations and Family Law mediations.
He also is trained as an Arbitrator including Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist
Arbitrations.
Mr. Montgomery served as Research Assistant to the Senior
Judge of the Second District Court of Appeal until July, 1978. During this
service, he was principal draftsman of the internal operations manual for the
central research unit. He entered into the private practice of law with the law
firm of Mann and Fay, Chartered until 1979. There he practiced insurance defense
law and local governmental law. He then practiced with the law firm of Staab and
Montgomery, Chartered, which has continued by various names to this
date.
Mr. Montgomery was an officer and director of The Manatee County
Bar Association, including service as President (1984-85). He is past president
of the Florida Council of Bar Presidents. He has served on The Florida Bar
Voluntary Bar Liason Committee (Past Chairman), Individual Rights and
Responsibilities Committee, Real Property Section Condominium Law Committee, and
other committees. He was a lecturer and author for the 17th Annual Condominium
Law Continuing Legal Education program. He was the first Florida Bar President's
Twelfth Circuit Pro Bono Service Award Winner. He has served as an adjunct
professor at Manatee Community College. He serves as a Teen Court Judge. He has
served as Moot Court Judge for the Stetson University College of Law moot court
competition. He authored a weekly newspaper article about law.
Mr. Montgomery also has served on the Manatee County Board of Zoning Appeals (with
multiple terms as Chairman). He served as Chairman of the Manatee County
Commission Charter Study Committee. He has served as County Executive Committee
Chair for one of two major political parties. Mr. Montgomery also has taught as
an adjunct professor at Manatee Community College. Mr. Montgomery has also
served as officer and director of various civic, youth sports and religious
groups. Mr. Montgomery founded and administers
the Manatee Adult Baseball League. Mr. Montgomery also the facilitator of an
Italian Study Group and somewhat speaks and writes in Italian.
Mr. Montgomery is married (11/25/72) to
Deborah A. Montgomery (nee: Slisz). They have two children.

Mr. Montgomery's hobbies include playing baseball (including in national tournaments),
scuba diving, white water rafting,
ballroom dancing and flying.
Mr. Montgomery supervises all litigation conducted by the
firm.
